Name: Jordan
Breed: Havanese
Age: ~1 year
Weight: 9 lbs.
Before OMD: OMD Rescue took Jordan, and 3 of his housemates, into rescue when a local animal shelter impounded over 50 animals from a hoarding case. There were 23 dogs and they were undersocialized, matted, and covered in urine and feces. Jordan, Simone, Suni and Hezly have been with dedicated OMD foster families learning what it means to live in a home, "how to dog" and, of course, receiving their vet care.
Energy Level: Higher! Though he may be an adult dog technically, he thinks he's a puppy...
What we love most: His excited dance. The little gremlin noises he makes when he's doing zoomies. His belly-up napping positions. His balance of sweet and silly. How he is always totally down for an adventure - as long as he's with you, he's having fun.
What he loves most: People (especially those who give him scratches). Going for walks (but he's all gas and very little brakes - he's still working on etiquette!) and adventures. Food. Toys.Sticks. Ripping up paper (with permission). His foster dog siblings. Licky matts. Going to work and out-and-about with his foster family.
What he knows: His name. Sit. Wait. Touch.
Working on: Independence/being alone. Jordan absolutely wants to be right with his people when they are home and has a hard time (initial crying and howling) when they leave. His foster family is working with him on this, but he will do best with a family who is not consistently gone for long hours.
Kids: 8 years and up please! He has not shown any aggression, but fast-moving loud kiddos make him very nervous
Dogs: Big yes, but Jordan is still figuring other dogs out and very puppy-like in his play (read: he can annoy other dogs).. He is successfully living with two other dogs in his foster home, but it is important that resident dogs be tolerant.
Cats: Dog-savvy cats only. He is not aggressive, but will chase cats and try to interact and play.
Housetrained: He came into rescue completely not house trained (unsurprising given his history) but has made amazing progress! He is not 100% yet, but he is pretty darn close. It will be important that his family stick with a routine.
Crate trained: He sleeps in his crate at night, but is otherwise not a fan. He is working on getting more comfortable but will make his displeasure known.
Jordan is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from omdrescue.org
