Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Clifford the big red dog whose personality matches exactly that as the cartoon, and if you're curious about his eyes, more information is below this paragraph! Cliff boy is as velcroey as can be to ALL people, (& weighing a little over 80 pounds at 2 years old, it makes sense!) He loves nothing more than playing some ball and then coming in to get loved on! Before you know it, he's everybody's best friend, and has TRULY never met a stranger- just someone who hasn't loved on him yet! He has gotten along with all other dogs, and kids! He is such a sweetheart! Not to mention, this young man knows all of his basics; crate-trained, house-broke, AND has amazing manners. While we still work with Clifford on simple things like walking on a leash with manners, he's taking to it like a champ! He's quite honestly that perfect 50/50 mix between brilliant and a goofball, who's willing to join his person in just about anything, and makes ANY activity fun! Or of course, is perfectly content chewing on a bone, eating the treats out of a kong, or napping while his people are away! Clifford is an absolute snuggle bug, very quickly placing his head in laps for some pets, and making his best attempts at being a tiny-little lap dog! We know he will do amazingly in just about any loving home, as he loves everyone and everything! We've been hard at work with Cliff's leash-walking skills, and he has been doing AMAZING! He walks with a loose leash 99% of the time, and LOVES keeping engagement with whoever is walking with him!
Wondering why Clifford's eyes look bald in the pictures of him being the best lap dog ever? This guy was born with double eye entropion. He had his permanent corrective surgery not too long ago, so his fur is still growing back. Nevertheless, he is as happy as can be without his eyelashes in his eyes! Entropion is an abnormality of the eyelids in which the eyelid rolls inward. This inward rolling often causes the hair on the surface of the eyelid to rub against the cornea, resulting in pain, corneal ulcers, perforations, or pigment developing on the cornea, which can interfere with vision.

More about this shelter
We are a non-profit organization out of Monticello, IA specializing in the care for dogs and cats that need us. Our care does not stay local, as we take transports from all over the United States, and adopt all over as well!
Our mission's primary focus is to help reduce the homeless pet population by finding homes for spayed/neutered pets, and helping educate WHY this process is so important, and the proper way to care for pets!
