My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bodie is an energetic young guy who loooves people and is looking for a home where he can be his best self. Maybe that home is yours!

We don't know anything about his pre-shelter life, but he's been winning hearts here at Lollypop Farm from the day he arrived. He immediately greeted everyone politely, wagged happily when being petted, and proved that he's a big fan of treats. He also loves to play, and fetch and tug are his favorite games.

Bodie is learning his good-dog manners, He walks well on a harness, and he already knows how to sit on command. Training - positive-reinforcement only, of course - is a great way to bond with a new dog, so you can have lots of fun cementing your friendship while teaching him the rest of the basics. Training and brain games - puzzle toys and feeders - are also a great way to help him burn off energy on days when the weather makes long walks - even a jog or a hike - impossible.

We think Bodie would do well as a family dog so long as any children are at least six years old. We'd like to introduce him to the entire family here at the shelter to ensure that everyone starts off on the same page. Do you already have a dog (or several) at home? We'll also have you bring them here to meet him, to make sure their play styles and energy levels are a good fit. If you're a feline-friendly family, ask your counselor for tips on handling at-home intros in ways that will encourage inter-species harmony.

Sweet Bodie has also participated in our Doggy Day Out program, visiting a park and a big-box hardware store, where he behaved himself well and was deemed "such a sweetheart. In fact, his chaperone loved him so much that she bought him his own special toy, which we'll be sending home with him.

Does everything we've told you bode well for Bodie? Would you like to come meet him and our other available dogs? Why not hop in the car and head on out here to say hi? Your next family member could be waiting to meet you right here.

More about this shelter

Mission:
Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, works together with our community better the lives of animals through justice, prevention, and life-saving care.

Vision: A just and compassionate world for all animals.

Lollypop Farm is not your typical animal welfare organization. We don’t classify ourselves as merely a shelter, simply taking in and rehoming pets. Rather, we are your partner. We’ll work with you to build a just and compassionate world for all animals–to save animals from abuse and suffering, to find a resource to keep your pet, to guide you in adopting a new pet, to make the tough decision to say goodbye to your family friend or to share information on how to help animals in your daily life.
