My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

** I am currently being housed at our Oglethorpe St location. Come meet me at 71 Oglethorpe St NW, every day between 12pm-7pm. Or visit humanerescuealliance.org/how-to-adopt to learn more.

Hello, Nobel, here, named, needless to say, after the Nobel Prize rewards science, humanism and peace efforts. So, if you take me home, you too can win a Nobel prize. I will happily with affection and wiggles reward 1) the science of you figuring out which treats I like best; 2) the humanism of you cuddling with me every day, multiple times, and 3) the peace efforts we will make by going on walks and greeting every being we meet with happiness and joy.

I am a small but mightily happy dog. The previous chapter of my life was not so easy, but this has not deterred me from making a fresh start once I got here to the shelter. I have quickly won over the hearts of staff and volunteers with my enthusiasm for everything from treats to walks to coming back to a nice comfy bed in my den. I have that hair that keeps growing so my adopters need to be mindful that I need to see the doggie groomer every few months to keep my hair free from painful mattings. I am a high maintenance pooch, but I am worth it!

Are you ready to take home the doggie Nobel prize? The good news is there is no need for a science paper or an award-winning novel. All you need to do is complete the adoption application!

LOCAL FOCUS
With a people-focused, community-based approach, we treat every animal as an individual and emphasize specialized care for both animals and their families. Through our five campuses in the District of Columbia and New Jersey, we are the largest animal services provider in our region – touching the lives of tens of thousands of animals annually through direct rescue, care, and community-based services. Our teams find solutions to both small and big problems, from providing direct care to an animal in crisis to tackling systemic barriers to affordable, pet-friendly housing.
