My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dixie is a cute, scruffy-faced, snaggle-toothed 8.5 lbs puppers.

She is a little shy, but once she warms up to you, she is your best friend and will flourish in a patient, understanding home. As you might know, little dogs can be possessive and guard their human. Dixie is no exception.

No young children, please, but she loves male humans! She follows the guys around the house, wanting to be picked up! With slow introductions, Dixie gets along with small dogs her size but wouldn’t mind being an only dog. (Has not been cat tested.) Dixie is a couch potato. She loves her pillow! Dixie likes to sit on the back of the couch and watch out the window for anyone driving up – she lets you know if there is a visitor! Dixie would do best in a quiet home where she can feel safe and loved, with an experienced terrier owner who can spend time with her, showing her how to play with toys!

Dixie is crate-trained but needs more help with potty training and socialization. She is up to date on her shots, is heartworm negative, and is spayed.

Additional adoption info

Our animals are first seen through social media or adoptions events. Once an adopter falls in love, We provide our adoption application. Once filled out we call references, vets if listed, and call the adopter to ask a few questions to see if they are a right match for the animal. From there the application is approved and meet and greets are scheduled. We allow trial adopts to make sure everything is perfect and if all is perfect we finalize adoption and collect adoption fee.

We have no public facility. All of our animals are in foster homes. We host weekly adoption events where lots of animals are available to meet!

More about this rescue

Hello we are Happy Hounds Animal Rescue. Our mission is to enhance the over all quality of life of homeless animals. We focus on euth lists at our city municipal shelter. We place animals in foster homes through our program to provide a solid road to recovery awhile being fully health cleared and spay/neuter to help end the cycle of euthanizing for space in our local shelter.
