My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Passama is probably wondering why she's back in a shelter after all these years. She probably misses her former owner very much too.... Passama was adopted from our Newark shelter when she was just a puppy back in 2018 and she had a great home for all this time! Sadly, her owner passed away. Someone in the family tried to keep her but the landlord wouldn't allow it so, Passama is back to looking for a loving home. She's 6 years old now and this magnificent mastiff mix is as sweet as they make them! She's a big, strong girl but she's so very sweet, well-mannered and she walks well on a leash. She sits immediately when asked and is so gentle taking whatever you give her. She's more interested in the squeak of a toy than she is the smell of a treat, actually. She plays gently and Passama has had experience with kids and dogs in her former home and she's been fine with them all. She's such a great girl that hopes that her stay with us won't be a long one. We require a completed adoption application which can be obtained at our facility, or from our website: www.ahscares.org. We also require proof of home ownership if you own, or a copy of a lease stating that pets are allowed with no restrictions if you rent. We require vet records for any pets owned in the last five years as well. Our adoption fees vary based on age, breed, etc. Please call our facility for exact fee 609-693-1900.

The Associated Humane Societies rescues stray and homeless animals, both domestic and wildlife, providing quality care and sanctuary until loving homes can be found. As a community-based organization, we provide low-cost veterinary care and humane education to promote responsible pet guardianship throughout New Jersey.

For over a century we have offered a haven to abused and neglected animals. Founded in 1906, AHS is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey, operating three shelters located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls. Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.
