For Adopt a Pet and the PEDIGREE® brand, October is all about finding homes for dogs in shelters. Adopt this month for a PEDIGREE® Wet Food Pouch and a chance to win a Homecoming-style photo shoot and shelter donation.
Hi, I am a young girl, but I've experienced quite a bit of trauma in my young life. I'm slowly making progress learning that there are safe people in the world, but this work will probably continue long after I am adopted. My foster family, Joy and her son, Andrew, think I would do best in a quieter home without a lot of noise / sudden movements, another confident dog to keep teaching me about being a dog / trusting people, and, finally, VERY loving, patient people ready to allow me to grow in confidence at my pace. I am learning that I deserve love and gentle touches, so I can now ask to be cuddled when I become anxious. I am now going on regular outings to Lowe's, which I am starting to enjoy, although some days I am able to stay longer and some days not so much. I do struggle right now when new people come to or come in my home. I feel afraid and think I need to run away to be safe. Once I know you are safe, I will love my new furever family VERY much, but I will really need a family with LOTS of patience willing and able to help build my trust and confidence.

Over 75% of our dogs are in foster homes along the front range. The foster will get in touch to schedule meetings for their foster dog. Meetings will happen in/near their homes since that is where the dog is the most comfortable. We do want you to bring family members (human and dog) to the meeting! Dogs who are currently at our Windsor facility will have meetings there and a volunteer will reach out to schedule those meetings with you. Please be aware that we do not place our dogs on a first come, first served basis, but rather a best-fit placement. Never fear, applications are valid for a year so if the first dog you meet isn't a good fit, we will have plenty of time to find one that is.
