Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
From his foster: Wilber is a good puppy. He does not like going out in the dark or the rain, but he does not mind the snow. When taking Wilbur out when it is raining or early morning, evening walks we need to offer him treats (as the walks are in the dark). He is doing well on the leash and learning to stay at your side.
Wilbur gets about three good walks a day (about one mile) and gets taken out when he wakes up from a nap. He loves being outside and is well behaved but can be stubborn at times. He would benefit from a fenced yard.
When walking Wilbur, you do need to pay attention to what he is doing, he loves sniffing and can find things to eat, which is not good. Some things are very nasty, and it upsets his tummy. When we get home from a walk, he likes some playtime and then a nap.
Wilbur loves meeting new people and especially likes kids, he is also good with other dogs and loves having play dates. He is also learning not all other dogs like him.
Wilber gets a short walk before bedtime and loves to come to bed with us and sleeps all night. He does very well at night goes 8 or 9 hours without an accident.
He has not been in a crate since we have had him. If we need to leave him home alone, he goes in the basement where he has toys and a bed. He loves to sit by you on the couch during reading or tv and puts his head on your lap.
Wilbur likes car rides, but is afraid to get into the car, you may need to pick him up and put him in the car, he will get out on his own.
He loves to play with his toys, especially his squeaky ball and tug of war toys. He will bring them to you and play until he lets go and you can throw the toy again.
He does like looking out the doors, windows, and will bark when he sees a deer or turkey.
He is full of fun and energy and very lovable.

More about this rescue
The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.
We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.
You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
