My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Cinza, stunning and perfectly petite! If you already watched his video or seen a picture of him you know this. With the little tufts of fur that pop out of his ears to a full, waterfall tail, seriously he is a great looks and great company.

If you are curious about his name, I’ll tell you, Cinza translates to ash/coal, as a color, in Portuguese. Pretty fitting! Though in his foster home they lovingly call him Mikey because his foster siblings names sounds so similar to Cinza and it was causing some pup-confusion. Mikey Cinza has a ring to it though!

Cinza is estimated to be about 1 year old and sure looks like a mix of a black lab and a border collie but given its rescue we won’t be able to say with certainty. Don’t let the guess on breed combo tell you that this is a big dog, this guy has big looks but weighing in at 37 lbs, Cinza is a petite thing. Truly he looks like a big dog that was put in a shrink machine set to 50%.

Cinza is so fortunate to be waiting for his adoption day in a loving foster home. This not only helps him learn the house-dog way but gives us a front row seat to his personality in a natural environment. His foster mama has shared that he has been a quick learner and melted right into the routine of the house. My favorite detail she shared is that he is sooo close to mastering fetch, he loves it but hasn’t consistently done the full-on bring it back to you part. Once he realizes he will run over and let you take it from his mouth no problem. So the direct return and the drop are in progress. If you love playing fetch, he has all the makings and will likely be a fetch all-star in no time.

His age has him perfectly primed to be an amazing adventure/hiking/running/walking buddy. One area he is working on that he will likely need continued support in mastering his leash skills. He currently pulls a bit when he is eager but corrects easily. He may need some leash work, but his enthusiasm for walks and meeting new friends show his love of life and how ready he is to experience all the things that come with being a loved pet.

Although he doesn’t have a mean bone in his body, his bark says otherwise. Don’t worry though, he uses it sparingly so it means something when he does. Something about a petite dog with a large bark goes right for my heart. Ill let you in on a little secret too, proof that he is just a softie, he loves hugs! Like full two arms around his neck kind of hugs! Love it! That, and he loves toys! Such sweet innocence in this boy! During our time together he explored our doggie pool and it absolutely seemed like it was his first time in a pool and he loved it! So whether you live near water, frequent lakes/beaches, or have a pool, he will be in heaven each and every time. He is ticking off perfection qualities left and right!

An ideal home for Cinza would include a playful and active dog buddy, he can easily self-entertain but having a dog friend would be his idea of dreamy! A home with a yard would be pretty dreamy too, he enjoys being outside and would also love a little kiddie pool space if possible. When he met our house cat he was a perfect gentleman! He was naturally curious but kept a respectful distance. From what we observed Cinza is cat-tolerant and could live in a home with a feline friend.

Personality wise, Cinza can be described as a gentleman! He is ready to experience the loved-life, bring his social, a bit silly nature home to you. This is a happy boy who will always be happy to see you, greet strangers with a welcoming energy, and be a loyal love for all his days.

Why adopt from Three Little Pitties?

The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it!

Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be!

It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks:

• 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.)
• A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week)
• One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan
• 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan
• Coupons for a fun visit to Petco
• Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!

We celebrated our 5 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes.
