My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by their previous owner.

Why this guinea pig is the one for you:
This cutie is Monica! A wonderful guinea pig looking for some new digs. Monica enjoys snacks (especially red bell pepper and cucumbers), a comfy house, and play time with her favorite humans! Guinea pigs are incredibly social animals who need to be kept in pairs to thrive. Monica is bonded with her mother, Ginny (923850), and they are required to go to their new home together! Guinea pigs need a lot of ground space to run around and stay healthy. Two guinea pigs will need a minimum of 10 sq feet of space (more is better!) to call home. Guinea pigs need lots of daily timothy hay to munch on, extra space to run around in, and toys to keep them active and enriched! Healthy greens and veggies are also an essential part of their diet, as well as a daily dose of vitamin C in the form of a supplement or a slice of orange! If you'd like to learn more about adding Monica (and Ginny) to your family, come down to the San Diego campus to speak with an adoptions counselor!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
