About: Jerry is a handsome, happy 3-year-old house hippo with a reputation for being gentle and sweet. Sadly, Jerry is starting to decline in the stressful shelter environment, so he needs to find a loving home where he can relax and decompress. Here’s what one volunteer at the shelter said about Jerry:
“Cruisin; through the park- that’s what Jerry (A850910) and I did today. When I went to leash this big guy up, it was so easy, and he was eagerly awaiting a walk. Out of his kennel we went at his pace, which was on the slow side. This is a super sweet, mellow dog. The noisy boats, people and dogs in the park didn’t ruffle his feathers at all. He pretty much ignored any commotion. His main purpose was to sniff as much as he could. I decided to sit at a park bench under a Ramada for a breather. He sat down right beside me, and he got lots of love and pets which he enjoyed. My experience with this boy is nothing but great! I found him to be a very sweet, easy going doggy. Check him out today- you won’t be sorry!”
Jerry spent a few days in a foster home where he was reportedly housebroken, crate trained, great in the car, and a big old couch potato.
“Jerry is a real sweetie- a snuggle bug but not clingy, LOVES to be brushed and is great with baths, easy to give medicine too, and only barks in his sleep.”
Like the cartoon cat Jerry chased Tom the mouse, Jerry the dog has a habit of chasing cats, so a home without feline companions is ideal. While Jerry can be friendly and playful with other dogs (and shares his shelter kennel), however, he needs to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit.
Despite his decline in the shelter environment, Jerry has shown that he is a mellow, easygoing dog in a home environment. He has masses that need to be removed, and this will be done by the PACC veterinarians before he leaves the shelter. But, knowing him, recovery will be a breeze with his low maintenance energy level.
If you`re looking for a loyal and affectionate dog, Jerry may be the guy for you! Please ask about how you can help him today!
Available for long term foster care 30+ days or adoption through PACC.
