My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET JONESY
Jonesy was found roaming the streets during a 110-degree holiday weekend!! A good Samaritan took him in but he could not go into the house. I run the rescue and have been ill since June so I could not go out and get him. Another wonderful animal lover went and rescued him and took him into her house. Meanwhile, I was trying to find a foster for Jonesy. We had a volunteer and Jonesy found a home to crash and relax at for 2 weeks. During this time he had some diarrhea and was a little withdrawn. Who can blame him? He has bounced back and his age is approximately 18 months.

So that is the back story on little Jonesy. He has had a fecal and a round of antibiotics for his tummy problems. We also modified his diet. He needs to eat Blue Buffalo Basics Skin and Stomach care kibble along with Blue Buffalo Blissful Belly Wet Dog Food.

He loves to play fetch and enjoys walks. He rides in the car either in the back seat or in a basket on the middle armrest. However in the beginning he is not too fond of males and does not like being crated! He loves belly rubs and is pretty chill. After a while, he began to want love and affection from his Dad Frank.

Being a young Pommie mix Jonesy is a tad mischievous, he sometimes loves to nip at your heels and does like to explore the neighborhood. Care needs to be taken that he does not dash out the door. When he does get out, I get a bag of treats and go outside and shake them and say treats, this brings him running. SO BASIC training is highly recommended.

Jonesy was 70% potty trained when he came to the rescue. Since he has been fixed he does not mark. BUT a house with a doggy door would be best for him. We have tried to get him on a “poop” schedule and he is pretty regular, but sometimes he will have an accident in the house. His level of potty training now is approximately 90%. When he does potty outside he is praised and given treats. HE loves running around the yard and gets the Zoomies! GOOO Jonesy! Doesn't mind baths. Jonesy does know the meaning of no.

He needs to be kept on the same food. His treats need to be as natural as possible.

NO SMALL CHILDREN under the age of 8. His nipping of heels could scare a small child.

More about this rescue

Our goal is to provide quality animal welfare and rescue for Pomeranians who have been abandoned in shelters or do not have homes. The focus of the Pom Palace Dog Rescue is to help older and handicapped Poms and Pom mixes return to health and become adoptable. A Pomeranian can live up to 18 years of age and many are abandoned at an age that many people consider old. But in reality they have can live long and rewarding lives and enrich their owners lives for many years.
