Dog Test: (Okay with Dogs) Jet would be ok with low energy dogs that respect cat boundries.

Cat Test: (Cat Selective) Jet is hissy with other cats but mostly just ignores other cats.

Litter Box Trained: (Uses Litter Box) Jet keeps a very clean kennel.

Energy Level: (Medium-High) Jet is a sleek black cat with a big personality, especially when food is involved. Her love for treats makes her quick to warm up to anyone, always greeting people with a friendly demeanor. Jet`s food motivation often leads her to be extra affectionate, hoping for a tasty reward, but even without a treat in hand, her warm and approachable nature makes her a delightful companion. She`s the kind of cat who loves being around people, always ready for attention and a good meal.

Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
Saturday- Sunday 10am-2pm

We ask that you come visit any time between open and no later than 30 minutes prior to closing. This ensures that staff will have enough time to assist you in meeting one of our great furry friends!

More about this shelter

We are a Municipal Animal Shelter for the City of Lee's Summit. We house animals brought in by Lee's Summit Animal Control Officers and Blue Springs Animal Control Officers.

Animals are also brought to us by owners that can no longer keep the animal or by strays that were impounded for running loose.

When an animal comes in as a stray, it is held for 5 days to give the owner a chance to claim it. If the owner does not claim it, on the 6th day it is put up for adoption or foster. During this 5 day holding period, if a potential adopter would like to adopt the animal, they are welcome to sign up on the adoption list. The names on the adoption list are contacted on the 6th day if no owner has made claim.
If there are no names on the adoption list, then the animal will become first come, first served when available for adoption.
