Fred is currently in need of a foster home while he undergoes medical treatment. Providing him with a loving foster environment will not only support his recovery but also help him feel more comfortable and cared for.
Reason for Foster: Awaiting Dental
Foster Time Frame: 1 Week
Foster Care Plan: Fred`s medical history prior to OPK is unknown, but after admission to shelter he displayed diarrhea and anorexia. Bloodwork and radiographs were performed and revealed low WBC count. FIV and FeLV testing was negative. Fecal testing was negative. Fred was treated symptomatically with intestinal de-wormers and antibiotics. Over time and after treatment, his stool has normalized and he is maintaining weight. An underlying cause of his symptoms was not determined based on diagnostic testing, but his symptoms resolved and his quality of life is good. He will still be sent to foster with the remainder of his medication to finish out. He will be ready to return for his dental procedure on 11/11.
Foster to Adopt: Fred is available through our Foster to Adopt program, which allows pets awaiting or undergoing medical treatment to be placed with prospective adopters before they are made available for adoption. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please visit https://www.operationkindness.org/foster/ or email us at foster@operationkindness.org to learn more.
