My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Amelia is a 2-year old female Poodle mix who was brought to the HSOV on the evening of September 17, 2024 along with Angel (who is most likely her sister). These girls were found by a Good Samaritan on State Route 550 in the Fleming Ohio area (vicinity of Barnett Ridge Road/Rocky Point). That compassionate lady stayed with them (and made sure they were safe from being hit by traffic) until both girls could be picked up by a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff and transported to our shelter.

Amelia and Angel were terribly matted (which is actually an understatement of the condition their coats were in). But these sweet young ladies were in good spirits and were 'hungry' for attention as well as food.

Amelia has a white curly-haired coat, a long tail, and an adorable Poodle face with a slender muzzle, a black button nose, and short floppy ears. Amelia's right eye is blue and her left eye is brown, which gives her a unique appearance.

Amelia weighs 25 lbs. She doesn't appear to have had much (if any) leash training, but she has made tremendous progress thanks to our HSOV staff and kennel techs.

Thanks to Pawsh Pets Salon for offering Amelia and Angel a much-needed day at their spa on September 21, 2024 where they were pampered and treated to soothing baths and grooming. We took several 'after photos' when they came back to our shelter later that afternoon and their transformation was truly amazing. Amelia and Angel looked and felt like 'Million Dollar Babies' and we know how much more comfortable they are now.

Thanks to HSOV Executive Director Amy Rogers for assisting Amelia with her glamour pictures.

Amelia was 'squinting' her beautiful eyes in most of her photos, and she could have benefited from some stylish Foster Grant sunglasses for sure!

Amelia and Angel dearly love each other and are providing comfort/security for each other, and they are being showered with love and attention from our HSOV kennel techs and staff. We hope that they might find a home together.

We've included a few of Amelia's 'before photos' on our HSOV Facebook pages which were taken on September 19th (and which we admit are painful to see). We are thankful that so many kind people have helped Amelia and Angel.
