My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This darling girl is a ball of energy and would love nothing more than an active family and doggie playmate for her forever home.  While still only a pup herself, Penelope is a big girl at almost 70 pounds and has so much play on her. She is strong on a leash, but wants to please and is very treat and attention motivated.  In her heart of hearts, she thinks she is a little lap dog.  Penelope has been around children and loves being and playing with them. Come meet this spunky girl!

More about this shelter

We are a family run rescue that we have established on our property. We pull from local animal control and shelters, as well as owner surrenders and high risk shelters. At Hard Licker Ranch we operate in small packs so that we can socialize the dogs as well as to understand the most about their personalities. We have 2 barns that are temperature controlled, and the dogs have 24 hour access to come in and out through weathered doggy doors. We do it to make life better for every dog that comes into our care and give them a second chance. We also do community outreach and TNR. Our rescue is also a Sanctuary for barn cats who need a home!
