Introducing Gene, the sleek and mysterious little guy with a heart as big as his curiosity. This all-black charmer might play the shy card, but don’t be fooled—he’s actually the kitten equivalent of a stealthy ninja. Gene is fascinated by the adult cat in the household, often playing the role of starstruck sidekick (or at least trying to). When he’s not attempting to blend into the shadows, you’ll find him plotting his next grand adventure. If you’re looking for a kitten who’s got a little bit of mystery and a lot of personality, Gene is your guy. Just don’t let his faux shyness fool you—he’s got a ton of love to give!

All of our cats are in foster homes. You can meet a cat that you are interested in at our adoption center with an appointment.

Prior to adoption, every CARE cat/kitten has received a thorough exam from a veterinarian, has tested negative for FIV/Felv (except as otherwise noted), been spayed/neutered if old enough, microchipped, dewormed, given flea preventative, and been inoculated against distemper. Rabies vaccine is given if the feline is over 4 months. Any other desirable medical attention has also been provided. Also, each cat/kitten has spent its rescued time in a private home in foster care being loved and assessed for temperament and personality, needs, likes and dislikes.

After your approval by our volunteers, a legal contract is signed with an adoption donation attached (this donation helps defray the medical costs incurred).
The adoption fee is a Donation.

(C.A.R.E.) is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to the rehabilitation, care and adoption of cats and kittens rescued from euthanizing animal shelters in Richmond, VA and surrounding areas. And, accepts on a limited basis animals from alternative sources. We are committed to the highest principles of humane care and obtain professional medical treatment for all animals in our systems.
