My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Oreo: Your Sweet Shyheart!

Introducing Oreo, a lovely female American Staffordshire Terrier with a beautiful black-and-white coat! This sweet girl may be a bit shy at first, especially around men, but once she warms up to you, her loving and playful personality shines through. At about three years old, Oreo is looking for a patient and understanding family who can help her feel secure and loved.

Oreo is great with other dogs and enjoys their company, making her a wonderful addition to a multi-pet household. She loves to play and will happily join in on games or cuddle up for some quality time once she feels comfortable. With a little time and gentle encouragement, Oreo will reveal her affectionate side, filled with tail wags and happy moments.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who just needs a little extra love to blossom, Oreo is the perfect match. Come meet this sweet girl today and discover the joy she can bring to your home!

Additional adoption info

As Bryan County Animal Control, our budget is small. Our Animal Control Officers serves as Customer Service, Animal Intake, Code Enforcers, and decision makers. Animal Control Officers reserves the right to refuse anyone that doesn't fit the criteria for adoptions. We do home checks when possible, we are unable to do any type of background check on adopters. We ask a lot of questions and give a lot of information when it comes to adopting a pet from the shelter. Because of this, we tend to send more of our animals out to rescue organizations than adopting. Recent changes in our facilities have made it to where we can alter and get pets minor vet care on their way to the adopter's home.

Go meet their pets

Bryan County Animal Control has 2 shelters. Richmond Hill shelter is located at 250 Dog Lane and our Pembroke shelter is at 143 West Industrial Boulevard. We attend local yappy hours, running and walking events with our rescue partners. You can make adoption appointments at our shelters by calling 912-851-3817 or 912-653-3816 to get connected to an Animal Control Officer.

More about this shelter

Bryan County Animal Control has always been a small department in our local government. Small department status means we get a smaller budget share. Our recent hire of Animal Control Officers have been nothing less than dedicated in their mission to send animals to rescue or to adopt animals to loving homes. We want to continue the mission to connect potential owners to great pets that deserve the chance to know love for the rest of their lives. We accept monetary donations for spay and neuter, food donations, toys, beds and treats for our pets while they stay with us.
