Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Zuky, our 9 year old 19 pound Lhasa Apso....can we actually stop for a second and tell you something embarrassing? We have a hard time telling a Lhasa from a Shih Tzu. As we are veterinary professionals that's doubly embarrassing. And yes, we just spent 30 minutes looking up the difference and are still not entirely sure. So please, Lhasa and Shih Tzu enthusiasts don't yell at us. Instead, help us find Zuky a home!
Zuky ended up at the shelter when her owner fell ill and could no longer care for her (Lhasa's are from Tibet and Zuky is from Gresham so no clue there...). Like a lot of small dogs her age, Zuky needed a few teeth extracted, so we stepped in to help. She recovered great from the dental and is getting used to her new gapped tooth smile.
A very friendly dog, Zuky is happy to meet everyone. Zuky is affectionate but not clingy, preferring to cuddle up next to her person rather than in their lap. She is a perfect companion at a winery or coffee shop and is always up for an adventure. Zuky is great on a leash and not reactive when she sees other animals out and about. She loves walks, which is good, as she is supposed to be about 15 pounds. Her adopter can help her with her waistline.
Zuky is potty trained, quiet and trustworthy in the house. Although she doesn't like the crate, she's not been destructive and waits patiently for her foster family to come home from work. Zuky could happily live with cats and other calm dogs (an exuberant puppy may overwhelm her). The only time we've seen Zuky grumpy is when she was overhanded while sleepy. Because of this, we recommend kids over 10 in her home.
Zuky is heartworm negative and current on her flea and heartworm preventatives.
Upon looking at the AKC website, apparently Lhasa's have a center part and Shih Tzus rock a high pony. That doesn't help either as our Zuky has a pixie bob. Ah well, she's cute no matter what. Apply to adopt at www.stumptownstrays.org
