For Adopt a Pet and the PEDIGREE® brand, October is all about finding homes for dogs in shelters. Adopt this month for a PEDIGREE® Wet Food Pouch and a chance to win a Homecoming-style photo shoot and shelter donation.
Calzone, or Cal for short, is just sweet as pie! He is a perfect gentleman in his kennel and then on the leash, as well. He was gentle when taking treats and wanted to show us that he knows sit and paw. He LOVES a squeaky ball and really opened up when playing with toys. While he looks stoic, there is a serious cuddle bug underneath all of that. He will do best in a home where he is the only dog.
Calzone shines when he gets to go on fieldtrips with our volunteers. His favorite activity is hiking and exploring! Of course all hiking trips end with restful snuggles before journeying back to the Animal Center. If you are looking for a hiking buddy, this is the guy for you!
Calzone has heartworms but it's treatable and not contagious. To help with the medical cost, a $400 sponsorship for treatment is provided by Friends of Wake County Animal Center. Email healaheart@outlook.com for more information.
If you're interested in learning more about him, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Calzone 249320".
He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Black Weight: 63 Age: 2yrs 5mths 0wks
