My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ABOUT ME...
My name is Helix! I was found with my brother, but no one claimed us. I LOVE to play - I have my puppy energy to burn, but it's in spurts. Chasing my tennis ball in the yard has been one of my favorite things to do with my humans, I can even bounce after it. Having toys to chase, chew, and keep my attention are really important. I get really excited to learn a new trick or discover new places; my family says I'm quite smart and that I pick things up quickly. As much as I love to play and run around, cuddling is one of my favorite things to do, too. I am very quick to snuggly next to you or even on your belly, and fall asleep within minutes. My foster parents work from home, and I happily snooze in a cozy bed right by their desk. I love to be by my people. It's my favorite. When I first meet people, I'm a little shy but I warm up really quickly. I live with my foster family of 3 kiddos (that are sooooo much fun to play with!), one medium sized dog that is just so nice, and a cat! We play all the time. I like her a lot. I have been living in a house with a fenced-in backyard, and love being able to run around (I'm really fast). I would do best with a fenced in back yard.

I AM GREAT WITH...
Kids - I have been living with a foster family of 3 kids aged 9-12. They took me to meet their sports teams, girl scouts troops, bus stop friends, and neighbors. Other dogs and cats. Crate trained - sleeps in a crate at night, and sleeps all night, waking around 6:30. I am also crated when no one is home, I have never been left home alone longer than 4 hours. Treats - I am very treat motivated. I love food, I will happily look over you while you eat your meal.

I AM STILL WORKING ON...
House training - I'm, like, really good at this. We're working on a system for me to alert the humans I need to go outside. It's 50/50. And they're learning my signs. Leash training | manners - My bones used to disappear when a leash was on me, but now I can do a pretty darn good walk. A lot of the time, I'm good walking on a leash - whether it's with a harness as well or just a collar and leash. I can get nervous with the loud noises, but I just know that the more and more we do this, the more confident I'll be. My foster parents said they see my confidence and personality coming out daily. They also noticed I walk a lot better and a lot more when my foster sister, Roxi, joins me on my walks.

I AM NOT GOOD WITH...
Loud Noises - I get nervous around really loud noises. It makes me skittish. Small Items - Since I'm teething, I'm grabbing all the small things on the ground and chewing on them. So that can be bad for me, and bad for those items. Socks - I will steal every sock I find.
