My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Rose Niland – the Golden Retriever who believes life is one long, glorious lovefest, and she’s the VIP guest of honor. At a perfectly fluffy 63 pounds and 3 years old, Rose is equal parts graceful socialite and goofy adventurer. If there’s a person, cat, or dog around, she’s convinced they’re all waiting for her to bless them with her signature charm and wagging tail. And believe me, she’s got charm in spades. Rose came to us after being picked up as a stray and taken to an animal shelter, where she went unclaimed (we're still scratching our heads over that one because who could resist this golden goddess?).

Rose is the kind of dog that will happily flop on the couch next to you to binge-watch a British crime series but will immediately leap into action the moment you even think about touching her leash. She has a sixth sense for adventures and believes every harness snap is a sign that the world is calling, whether it’s a simple stroll around the block or an epic car ride where she will try to ride shotgun (seriously, buckle her up unless you want a co-pilot with paws). Rose isn't too picky about where you go – dog park, pet store, café – if there are people or pets, she’s ready to flash her million-dollar grin and politely ask for pets in exchange for a paw. She’s the kind of gal that turns heads everywhere she goes, and she knows it.

As a proud member of the “let’s run and play all day” club, Rose is excellent with other dogs, especially if they share her boundless enthusiasm for games of fetch and the occasional zoomie session. But don’t let her joyful energy fool you – Rose is also a total pro at lounging, and will gladly cuddle with you after a long day of fun. Have a cat? Well, Rose thinks they're just as fun as dogs, though her playful overtures might need some fine-tuning around a more discerning, older feline. When it comes to kids, Rose is all in – especially with the teenager in her foster home, who has earned Rose’s full approval as the world’s best playmate. However, younger kiddos might need to pace themselves; overstimulating Rose is like hitting the "go" button on a wind-up toy that just discovered its turbo boost.

Despite all this exuberance, Rose is a refined lady in the making. She’s got basic commands like sit and stay down pat, though the art of the “heel” is still a work in progress (what’s life without a little adventure, anyway?). She’s even learned that sharing is caring… unless you’ve got the really good tug rope or chewy toy, in which case she might try to take it for herself. Who can blame her?

Rose is a total lady when it comes to house manners! She’s fully potty trained and only barks when it's an emergency – like when she absolutely must go outside right now. Free roam of the house? Not a problem for this golden girl. She doesn’t chew on anything other than her toys, hasn’t dug any suspicious holes in the yard, and shows zero interest in jumping fences (though squirrels might tempt her if given the chance). When it’s time to relax indoors, Rose is perfectly content curling up on the couch or lounging in her favorite spot, making her the ideal companion for both playtime and downtime.

Rose is a sweetheart through and through, and with her stellar manners and infectious energy, she’d be the perfect companion for an active family or someone who’s ready for daily adventures and endless affection. Whether she’s wagging her way through a park or snuggling up on the couch, Rose’s love for life and her people is simply contagious. If you're ready for non-stop fun, unconditional love, and a whole lot of fur, Rose is ready to be your forever bestie.
