For Adopt a Pet and the PEDIGREE® brand, October is all about finding homes for dogs in shelters. Adopt this month for a PEDIGREE® Wet Food Pouch and a chance to win a Homecoming-style photo shoot and shelter donation.
I am foster mom to Wesley, he was the poor baby that was hit with a golf club a few months ago. This sweet boy had jaw surgery, and when i first got him, he was not in a good place of course and had just had surgery to fix his broken jaw. It took 3 days for him to even let me get near him because he was in so much pain. Once he began trusting me, he was putty in my hands. He really loves chicken breast cut up small with his food. He couldn't eat kibble for weeks, but is now eating kibble great.
Wesley is an absolute love bug. He sleeps at the end of my bed, or next to my pillow and rests his head often times on my shoulder. Sometimes he likes it under the covers. He is a cuddly sweetheart. Wesley is doggy door trained, and is doing great with his bathroom manners after being neutered. Wesley would do best with a young dog his size because he is playful at times, and even plays gentle with my half Chi/half dachshund with NO jaw or mandible. He is very gentile with her and also his foster sister Possum, who is a tri-pod who also loves to play with him. He will be your best cuddle buddy on the couch. He loves to be near his person at all times. He has never been kenneled and has never needed it. He is not a chewer or destructive at all. Wesley will be a great addition to any home and is such a special boy. He is really perfect. His cuddles and love will melt your heart. Someone will be very lucky to have him in their life and to whoever abused him…. We believe in karma. Now let’s get this rehabilitated sweet baby boy into his forever home.

Our animals are kept in foster care until we find them the best forever home. All prespective adopters fill out our interest form and have a home check as well as a meet and greet with the animal they are considering adopting. A small adoption fee is asked for depending on the animal and it's age etc. An adoption contract is signed by both parties and if there is any issue with the animal after adoption the adopter agrees to return the animal to us.

Our dream at Vegas Pet Rescue Project is to positively impact the Las Vegas homeless, abused and abandoned pets that overwhelm our shelter system by giving them a new lease on LIFE. Our primary focus will be to assist the local animal shelters (Animal Foundation and Henderson Shelter) with the pets who have been given limited time to be adopted before they are removed from the shelter system due to a multitude of reasons. We will accomplish this goal through our extensive network of foster families, donations, and sponsors. We would also like to help finance spay and neuter programs to help low income families be responsible pet owners and decrease the overpopulation issues we face in Vegas. We also feel it important to collect pet supplies and food for local rescues and the city’s Good Samaritans who foster rescue pets and take in strays. Eventually we would love to help create a volunteer based program to investigate and bring down illegal breeding. We have been helping the pet rescue effort in the city for 3 years now and feel like we are just getting started.
