My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Griswold has come a long way from being a scared dog trembling from fear in the kennel at the local shelter not wanting to take even one step to being an outgoing, exuberant and friendly guy whose tail never goes down anymore. It took two weeks for him to wag his tail for the first time. We don't know what happened in his past; but we know it is behind him and his present and future are bright. He gets along great with other dogs and currently lives with a crazy Huskie-mix and a blind senior Shar Pei (all boys). However, Grizz much prefers human interaction over playing with dogs (even at his once-a-week doggie daycare outing he mainly follows the human attendant around while ignoring the dogs). Grizzy is a loyal companion who will follow you everywhere, but without being needy for affection. He just wants to be where you are. When you are going potty, he will sit next to you, LOL. Grizzy has a wonderful brindle coat and is on daily fish oil to keep it that way. It is easy to bath him, however, Grizzy is a dog that does not smell at all (very unusual). He is of robust health, has great teeth and likes being active. His perfect new home would offer him daily exercise (more than just a walk). He enjoys hikes, he can go jogging with you when it is not too hot and he has ample water, of course. Grizzy is like a huge puppy; a bit of a bull in a China shop (no small kids as he may accidentally run into them or knock them over jumping up). When he runs, his legs seem to be flying in all kinds of directions .. hilarious to watch. He gets super excited for walks, car rides, and feeding time. He is crate, muzzle, and doggie door trained. He has been on a business trip to New Mexico with his human and stayed crated in the hotel room without any problems. When bored and left alone for too long, he has been known to chew a shoe or two. His foster mom thinks of him as the perfect guy's dog that will go everywhere with his human as well as frequent adventures.

We have his DNA and his predominant breed is German Shepherd with Australian Cattle Dog, and Husky. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines and micro chipped. Griswold's adoption fee is $400. More about this rescue

Lucky Dog Rescue came into existence after one individual started saving one dog at a time back in late March of 2004. It began as a Dalmatian rescue, originally named Phoenix Dalmatian Station.

After seeing so many nice, highly adoptable dogs sitting in concrete cells in the county shelters, being put to sleep when no one came to the rescue, it quickly evolved into an all breed commitment, and we began saving several other breeds and mixes too! We are now a growing group of dog lovers who help all breeds and are committed to giving dogs a second chance at finding a forever home.
