My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is a courtesy post on behalf of our partners at Maui Humane Society. Edam is available for adoption and can fly ANYWHERE Hawaiian or Alaska Airlines flies. If you are interested in adopting Edam, please contact us and we will put you in touch with the appropriate contacts at Maui Humane!

My name is Edam! The Coast Guard found me at the park, I'd say it was a daring rescue at sea but in actuality I was just lounging on the grass. I'm Edam, a 5-year old boy who's seemingly had a rough past. See I was found with a serious leg injury, a collar so tight I have indents in my neck and my jaw is a little crooked but despite all this I'm happy-go-lucky, very loving, optimistic and thrilled to be here. The shelter is like the Four Seasons compared to where I've been! I enjoy going on walks, chewing on bones, playing in the yard, munching on snacks and getting attention from my humans. I was named Edam because it's a popular cheese that everyone likes, just like me! Ok, I'm ready to close the book on the first chapter of my life and start a new one - will you please be in my story?

MY FOSTER HOME SAYS THIS ABOUT ME:
Edam is a good boy who just want to be loved, he's very affectionate, eager to please and loves to give sweet kisses. His favorite things are stuffed Kongs, cuddling on the bed, eating cheese and hot dogs, and jumping in anyone's open truck tailgate! He is housebroken, he gets along with our dog, he knows sit, crate and wait and he's a mellow guy. To get pets he likes to sit in the back seat of the car with his front paws on the ground and his big head on the center console.

More about this rescue

Launched in 2021, Diamond's Friends Pet Rescue is a Newport Beach-based 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization. We are entirely foster-based and are no-kill. Our mission is to help as many homeless dogs and cats as possible find loving and compassionate adoptive families.

We accomplish this by being good stewards of donations, inspiring dedicated volunteers and fosters, providing education on responsible pet ownership, and being advocates for each animal that comes under our care. Our goal is to make a positive impact in the lives of as many animals as we can.

Diamond's Friends Pet Rescue is named in honor of our founder's late dog, Diamond. She was a fantastic foster sister to numerous dogs and was a friend to every animal she met. It is our hope that many more animals in need will get to be one of Diamond's friends.
