My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Blue-eyed Parsley could be that dream come true pup for retirees who enjoy spending their time with a gorgeous guy who is loving and engaging. There's no question that he would also do well with gentle, dog-loving older kids who enjoy the fun and snuggles that a sweet dog brings to a family.

Parsley has been identified as a Beagle..with a touch of Fox Terrier in the mix for additional beauty and fun. Texas veterinarians made the decision on breed mix..all we know is that this guy is sweet, loving and absolutely irresistible!

Farfel's wants to make certain that Parsley is handled kindly and with respect. He'll return that loving treatment a thousand times over with loyalty and kindness. This little guy is as sweet as can be, silly and playful, and once comfortable in his environment is entertaining in his silly antics and the love that he wants to show to everyone who is kind to him.

Being a young and super-smart Beagle, Parsley loves physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. He would be a natural in positive reinforcement / force- free group obedience classes. These classes are so important in bonding as well as teaching a dog the skills (in a very positive way) to understand boundaries and commands. This creates a well-behaved partner both at home and out in the community. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person force-free / positive reinforcement trainers in your area.

Parsley's sad story is all too common. He was living on the scary urban streets with his mom and siblings when an animal control van picked them up and delivered them to a high-kill shelter where all were scheduled for euthanasia due to lack of space. Fortunately, mom and pups were recognized for their great temperaments and made available for rescue to Colorado groups.

Parsley may initially be a bit shy due to all the changes in his short life..but give him just a minute (a belly rub and yummy treats are wonderful) and he inches just a bit closer to a welcoming hug. Before you know it, he's gently loving you with a soft kiss. Parsley's awesome Texas rescuers recognized all of this and knew that there was a Colorado home that would fall in love with this stunning guy and desire to make him a permanent and very important member of their family.

At 10 months old and a very portable 17 lbs, Parsley is a perfect size for hiking the Colorado mountains, neighborhood walks (he's a very social guy) and backyard fun with his family..and then at the end of the day, sweet Parsley would enjoy nothing more than a warm spot on the couch or bed next to his favorite people. Parsley enjoys his relationships with other dogs as well and would have so much fun with another playful and gentle canine companion.

Parsley would do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. He'll be a committed and loving best friend..and would be overjoyed with the opportunity to come along and be part of the fun. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure. It can be a visit with friends, a car ride, a vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch. All of this would speak to Parsley's sweet temperament and love of his family.

We aren't open to a home where family members spend their days working full-time outside of the home. We'd like Parsley to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. Those who work from a home-based office would be perfect for this sensitive and lovable guy.

Parsley has been fully vetted and vaccinated to fulfill Farfel's commitment to adopting out only healthy pets. We've also requested that Parsley be neutered prior to his transport to Boulder. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too many rescue dogs and not enough vets to care for them in this area of Texas. If it doesn't...Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Parsley's neuter / microchip if one of our rescue vets is used.

Parsley will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 10/4/2024. If interested in this very loving and devoted best friend, please fill out a Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Applications can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Parsley please be sure to submit the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Rescue site applications such as Petfinder or Adoptapet don't provide enough information for us to determine a great match for this very deserving dog and therefore aren't useful. We're sorry, but in many circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.

An Adoption Application and an Adoption Contract must be completed before any dog can begin their one week foster. Our average adoption fee is $695. This amount serves to cover vetting, spay/neuter, all vaccinations, temperament testing, transport, a microchip, harness, food, and treats.
Our dogs come from Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and rural Colorado.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Pets are transported from the southern states every week. Almost 100% of the time, the dogs are spoken for as a result of adoption applications that can be referenced under Adoption at farfelsrescue.com. We study the applications. If the app indicates there is a match, followed up by a home visit and reference checks, the process moves to the next step. The adopter is committing to a one week foster (of course the dog can be returned at any time prior), and can then choose to finalize the adoption.

More about this rescue

We own a pet boutique named Farfel's Farm & Rescue on Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado. We have had the good fortune to find our niche in the Boulder community and experience success. We felt it very important to "pay it forward" in gratitude. We couldn't think of a better endeavor than to save dogs who were out of time in the southern states, yet had been identified with great temperaments. We dedicate our efforts to their good health and ultimate wonderful, permanent homes.
