My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, my name is Feline Dion and I have 4 siblings.  We are on a "Hold Status" until October 12th, 2024, then we'll all be able to find forever homes.  We came about after some nice lady brought us here to be taken care of.  We are in desperate need of being taken care of.  We have had it pretty rough and am glad to finally be some where safe.  Their taking really good care of us and we know this will only be temporarty as we're praying you nice people out there will want to adopt me or maybe our mom Tina.  We are only 4 weeks old and so far their life has not been pleasant, but that is changing as we speak.  I will be forever grateful to you and will give you unconditional love.  I'll keep you company, purr for you, sit on your lap so you can pet me and you know all cats/kittens love to be petted and loved on!  Please consider and come check me/us put or you can check out the PCHS website.  I'll/we'll be waiting and thank you!

If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come.

Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas at least monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee (CO) $50.00 fee (St. Louis) to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets!

All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped.

Go meet their pets

Our Shelter is open every day from 10am-4pm, except Sundays. On Sundays, we are open from noon-4pm.

We are open for walk-ins, but we recommend appointments because some of our pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment with another potential adopter. We just don't want you to come to our location and be disappointed if you can't meet a pet you are interested in.

You can select an appointment time using this link: https://koalendar.com/e/meet-and-greet-appointment.
