My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Make a Splash with Wavey!

Sup! I’m Wavey– your future beach buddy with a big heart and a splash of high-energy fun! I’m a 3-year-old, 41-pound Shepherd mix. I was rescued from the Carlsbad shelter after being diagnosed with TVT, but thanks to The Animal Pad, I’m now a fin-tastic survivor. I’m fully healed and ready to catch a new wave in life with you!

When it comes to energy, I’m like the tide—calm at home, but when I’m out and about, I ride the waves of adventure. I love long walks, hikes, or even a good run (I could go for miles!). I’ll need daily walks, but if you can run with me, we’ll be smooth sailing. I’m a super cuddly girl. I’ll sit right on top of you, soaking up all the pets and giving all the kisses. I’m super affectionate and love attention, so if you’re into snuggles, we’re going to get along swimmingly.

When I get excited, I tend to jump with a lot of energy—so I’d do best with older kids (12+), who won’t get knocked over by my enthusiasm. I’m trained in all the important stuff—bathroom, crate, and leash trained (though my high prey drive means I might dive into a bush if I spot something exciting). I am usually on high alert while walking and checking out for critters. I shouldn’t be in a home with any cats or small animals. I do well with other dogs and adore my four furry foster siblings! I also do fine when I’m home alone but I’ll gladly greet you with tail wags and kisses when you return!

Why adopt me? I’m the ultimate combo of laid-back beach bum and adventure-seeking pup! I’ll be your cuddle buddy at home and your running partner on the trail. Whether I’m an only dog or sharing the beach with a furry friend, I’ll bring joy, love, and waves of fun!

My adoption fee is $300 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
