My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Skyler was brought to our shelter by Animal Control. She's incredibly sweet and appears to enjoy the company of other dogs. We plan to test her interaction with cats. She still has plenty of puppy energy, yet she walks quite nicely on a leash. Please apply to meet Skyler today.

More about this shelter

At the Humane Society of Port Jervis/Deerpark we are passionate about ensuring the protection and welfare of all animals in need. This is the legacy of our founder Robert Kleinstuber, who began the shelter in 1959 as a memorial to his beloved dog, Jeff.

Our mission is to protect and serve animals during their greatest time of need, assist our community pets and their people, and offer homeless pets a second chance at a first-rate life. By providing humane education along with free or low-cost resources, we hope to reduce the homeless pet population in our area.

We currently provide animal control impound services for 10 municipalities in Orange & Sullivan Counties and are proud to provide low-cost spay/neuter clinics, adoption and re-homing services, humane education, and community assistance to the tri-state area.
