Rowdy is being fostered in West Plains, Missouri.
Hello potential adopters! Here’s a question for you. Are you ready to adopt your next forever companion, but you don’t want the commitment of raising a puppy.. like all the potty training in winter... or is an adolescent dog too much for you right now? Then check out our boy Rowdy!
Rowdy is a 6-year-old, 46 lb, standard red merlemale with a bobtail. Please don’t be put off by his age! Think of him in terms of a fine wine, or cheese, or steak; all things that are better once they've had time to age! Rowdy is just like this. He has aged to perfection.
If Rowdy could talk, we would love to hear his story. What we do know is he was living in his loving home, but his owner passed away unexpectedly a short time after they got him. Rowdy can be a little shy when meeting new people but warms up quickly. Once he gets to know you, he will become your Velcro shadow. He wants to be a lapdog and is always ready to cuddle and snuggle! He can be energetic but has a good off switch and is happy to just hang out and relax with his humans.
Rowdy lives with two other dogs (females) and does well with them. He enjoys zoomies around the yard, playing with toys, and interactions with his humans. Have another dog, great! If not, Rowdy would probably enjoy playdates with other dogs instead. Rowdy would love to have a fenced yard so he could have a space to play; especially with you! Rowdy has one of the goofiest and funniest personalities that has began to shine once e became comfortable in his foster home.
Rowdy is house trained, potty trained, and crate trained. He knows some basic commands and learns quickly. He is food motivated, which is great for training and is eager and willing to learn new things. We do not know how he is with cats. Because of his initial shyness to meeting new people, he would probably do better with adults or older children.
Rowdy is looking for a caring and compassionate home that will continue to build his confidence and understand that he is a bit shy when meeting new people! Is that you? He would love someone who enjoys walks, hanging out, challenging him mentally, training, and playing with him. Rowdy’s got lots of love to give and is waiting for his forever home!
If you would love to give this handsome boy a home or just meet him in person and see all that he has to offer, click on Adopt and fill out the application. We would love to hear from you and will be in touch.
Rowdy is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms. Proof of heartworms for any prior or current pets is required to adopt from our rescue.
NOTE: All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in. Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application. We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family. MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives. www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org
