My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Artimis, the sweet and sensitive pup looking for a loving forever home. This gorgeous girl may be timid at first, but once she warms up to you, her tail won't stop wagging. Artimis is a 1-year-old beauty with a heart of gold.

Artimis has shown her sensitivity towards touch, as she freezes when her previous owner touched her face. But with gentle and patient handling, she slowly relaxed and even maintained eye contact. She may need some extra time and understanding when it comes to being touched, but once she trusts you, she'll love all the cuddles and scratches you can give.

This playful pup is also a fan of tag and enjoys running around with her friend Lealand. However, she does get a bit nervous when Lealand pats her rear end. With some reassurance and positive reinforcement, Artemis will learn to trust and feel safe with her humans.

Though she may be hesitant with toys, Artimis has a big appetite and will immediately start eating when food is given to her. She may keep an eye on the food bowl, but she never leaves it until she's finished every bite. She may also enjoy a good rawhide every now and then, but be aware that sudden movements or loud noises may startle her.

When it comes to other dogs, Artimis may be a bit cautious, but with slow introductions, she can become friendly and curious. She may need some time to adjust and feel comfortable, but once she does, she'll be a great companion to any furry friend.

Artimis would do best in a calm and understanding home with patient owners who can help her build her confidence and trust. With some love, patience, and time, this sensitive sweetheart will bloom into the most loving and loyal companion. Come meet Artimis today and see for yourself the love and loyalty she has to offer!

More about this shelter

We are a local non-profit organization run and staffed by your neighbors. We make decisions on caring for homeless, unwanted, abandoned and abused domestic animals based on what we believe is best for them. We have no affiliation with any larger group and we receive no funding from any larger group that might influence our decisions or actions.

We advocate only for the animals in our care to help them find their forever home with you.

UPAWS does not receive operating funds from any governmental agency. We rely on donations from our neighbors and friends to make our efforts possible. We save consistently 98% of the animals who come to us – which is an award-winning success story. We want to educate everyone on proper animal care so there soon won’t be the three percent who come to us too sick or wounded to be saved. It’s your support that makes this dream possible.
