My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

About Me: Hey there! I'm Cleo, your soon-to-be favorite furry friend. Here’s a bit about me: Adventurous Spirit: I'm tiny but mighty and am ready to enjoy fun activities with you. Hiking, going on walks, or just a good old play session with a ball or my squeaker toy – I’m all in! Snuggle Expert: After a day of fun, I love to unwind with my humans. I’m a pro at giving hugs and kisses. My favorite is resting my head on your shoulder. Building Trust: New people and dogs can make me nervous, but with patience and love, I warm up and show my true loving nature. Tiny Dog Lover: I get along great with my small dog mates - we share toys, play fight and have dinner together, but would need time learning to trust new family members. Well-Mannered: I'm not destructive and can be left alone at home without any issues. If I have a bone to snack on even better! Ideal Home: I’d love a home where I can be both active and relaxed. Someone who enjoys taking walks and cozy nights would be my perfect match. With a bit of patience and TLC, I’ll be your loyal sick kick and adoring companion. Why You’ll Love Me: I’m playful, loving, super adorable and always ready to make you smile. I’ll keep you active and be your snuggle buddy when it’s time to relax. Ready to Adopt? If you think we’re a great match, let’s meet! I can’t wait to start our adventure together. Love, Cleo 💕

Additional adoption info

Every dog and puppy that comes through The Barking Lot Dog Rescue will be "vetted" before they leave to their forever home. Being "vetted" not only means a veterinarian has seen them to ensure they're healthy; it also means they have been spayed/neutered, received at least one injection of DAPP (puppies under 6 months require 3 dosages - remaining vaccines will be scheduled at time of adoption if not already given), bordetella and rabies vaccine (required by law) and microchip. They have also been socialized in a home setting with people and other animals (varies per dog, please see their kennel card for more information).

More about this rescue

Our Mission
Giving unwanted dogs a chance at a forever life by filling hearts through rescue, adoption & community education.

We are a newly formed 501(c)(3) dog rescue in Maricopa County, Arizona. We are a group of very determined women with over 60 years of combined experience in the animal rescue community. We came together to start our dog rescue, The Barking Lot Dog Rescue, with the intention of giving unwanted or abandoned dogs and puppies a chance at a forever life by giving hope and filling hearts through rescue, adoption, and community education.
Currently, we are a foster based rescue. We depend entirely on volunteer foster homes that graciously and lovingly provide a temporary resting point until permanent homes are found for each canine.
