My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Raisin, I am a 14 year old, short-haired neutered male. I was transferred to MaxFund September 2024 from another shelter, now I am looking for my fur-ever home!

I am the sweetest old man ever! I love LOVE attention! I love people so much that I just want to rub my face all over yours, and if you are at my eye level I will do so! I might also try to climb on your shoulders. When I am not getting attention I like to sit at the door and people-watch through the window. I am always hoping someone will come in to say hi!

Sadly, I am getting old so I do have some medical issues. I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, kidney disease, and I have a heart murmur. It is ok though, it doesn't bother me! All I want is some attention and I am happy.

I haven't met any dogs or children, I think I would be ok with kids though, I just might have to learn how to respect their personal space. I haven't directly interacted with my kitty roommates but I am not aggressive towards them and would likely do ok with another cat. If you have kids, you can bring them to meet me! If you have a other pets, the shelter staff can test me with whichever species and see how I do.

If you think I would be a good fit for your home, please come to the shelter to meet me!
The shelter hours are Sunday - Monday, & Wednesday - Saturday (Closed Tuesday) 9:30 - 4:30, Closed 12:00 - 1:00 for lunch.

More about this shelter

The MaxFund is a non-profit organization that was established in May of 1988 to provide medical care for injured pets with no known owners, and to seek out new homes for these animals once they have recovered. The MaxFund is a no-kill dog and cat shelter. MaxFund assists hundreds of people and animals each year by trying to make the correct match between owner and pet. MaxFund adopts our animals to Colorado residents only.

The MaxFund is a TRUE no-kill shelter. There is no pre-sorting of animals into "adoptable" and "non-adoptable" categories, discarding the so-called "unadoptable." The MaxFund takes every animal it has the space for. EVERY animal is kept until its owner is found or it is placed in a new adoptive home.
