Motley came to us as an owner surrender. Motley came in with 4 other standard poodles. The pups were surrendered because the owner became overwhelmed and could no longer care for them. All of the dogs were living in an RV with a child and the owner. It just became too much and they decided it would be in the dog's best interest to find them new homes. Since the dogs just arrived at the rescue, we do not have a lot of specific info on them as we are just starting to get to know them ourselves. Motley is very friendly and active. He would be a great walking partner or adventure taker. Motley wants to be near you and will follow you everywhere. He seems to love everyone and has just made himself right at home with us and the other dogs. He seems to do well in the house and has not tried getting on the counters or in the trash (so far). He seems to be (partially) housetrained but that has yet to be determined fully since he just arrived. We have not tried Motley in a crate yet but he would probably do fine. Motley does walk well on a leash and rode well to the vet. He seemed to enjoy his outing. Motley had quite a few mats so we have had him shaved down to deal with those and give him a fresh start on a healthy coat. He is also just a bit underweight so we will be working on fattening him up (we will be able to tell better once the coat comes off). He is a really nice boy and is pretty mellow and gentle. We think he would do well in pretty much any household. He would probably prefer someone who could be home most of the time but he doesn't appear to have separation anxiety if you can't be with him every minute. We think he will be a wonderful companion.
Motley saw the vet on 9/19/24 and was found to have an ear infection, and some patchy hairloss/skin infection from being matted. He did receive Claro Otic for his ear infection and has started on antibiotics for his skin. He also tested negative on his heartworm test and was negative on his fecal but we have given him a Drontal just in case. He has been started on Simparica Trio monthly also for flea control and heartworm prevention. Motley weighed 55.3 pounds as of 9/19/24. We are awaiting the vet's microchip order to come in next week so we can chip him but once he gets that done,he can go home.
If interested in giving Motley his forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Motley's adoption fee will be $400 to help cover the cost of his vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Motley based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for him, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you

More about this rescue
We are a small rescue started in September 2004. To date, we have adopted out over 1,000 dogs and cats who may not have had a second chance. We rescue the majority of our pets from kill shelters and have them thoroughly vetted prior to going to their new homes. All of our pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm checked(dogs) and dewormed. We also microchip our dogs so that they can always find their way home. Big and small, we work to rehome them all. We are always in need of donations so if you can help us to help our pets, please contact us! The more people who get involved, the more pets that we can save! You can also see our pets and/or fill out our adoption application on www.petfinder.com. We look forward to hearing from you and making that "forever match"!
