My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say hello to Indie. We don't know anything about this sweet girl's past, but our staff are very good at getting to know our dogs, and we've learned some great things about this Very Good Girl.

We call her one of our social butterflies. She loves people - especially people who offer her yummy treats and lots of petting. She walks very nicely on a leash, and while we don't think she knows any commands yet, her love of treats will make her a fun dog to train. Since positive-reinforcement training is a great way to bond with a new dog, training will be a win-win. She'll learn her good manners, and the two of you will become the best of friends.

We think Indie would be a good family dog, so before she goes home we'll have you bring everyone in your household here to do a meet'n'greet. That way we can start everyone off on the right foot and give you tips for making her feel like part of the family. We don't know how she feels about other animals, though when she went on a recent Doggy Day Out, her hostess said she was very calm when she saw passing dogs. If you already have a dog - or several - at home, we'd also like to do their first introductions here, too. That way we can make sure everyone's energy levels and play styles are compatible. Are you a cat family? As your counselor for tried-and-true tips for handling inter-species intros.

One last thing to know is that Indie does have a medical issue, though it certainly doesn't hold her back. Ask your counselor for more info on that and how to keep her happy and healthy moving forward.

Could Indie be the girl of your dreams? She and all our available dogs hope you'll head out here for a visit. Trust us, you'll be looking for love in just the right place.

More about this shelter

Mission:
Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, works together with our community better the lives of animals through justice, prevention, and life-saving care.

Vision: A just and compassionate world for all animals.

Lollypop Farm is not your typical animal welfare organization. We don’t classify ourselves as merely a shelter, simply taking in and rehoming pets. Rather, we are your partner. We’ll work with you to build a just and compassionate world for all animals–to save animals from abuse and suffering, to find a resource to keep your pet, to guide you in adopting a new pet, to make the tough decision to say goodbye to your family friend or to share information on how to help animals in your daily life.
