My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello Everyone, my name is Saffron. I am looking for the perfect family. I came to Stray Haven in hopes that I will be able to make that happen. I am looking for a family that likes to go on hikes and be active. I am part hound so I enjoy smelling all the smells around me. If you think you are the right family for me, please stop by and meet me.
.....
𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐃𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲/𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟:

"At first it seemed like every other morning when I woke up at the shelter, Stray Haven Humane Society in Waverly. Some of the dogs start sounding off as soon as they hear our shelter staff, I think of them as my staff. I just stay quiet, I'm not a barker like some of the loud mouths, and wait for some attention and kind words from my staff.
After breakfast is served and I've been let out to go potty and my kennel cleaned I hear that it's not just any day but a Thursday. There's a buzz between all the dogs because Thursday is the day that one of us gets to go on a date, a day out of the shelter. I've gone a couple of times before so I'm not thinking that I'll be chosen again but sure enough I am chosen, lucky me!

My staff brings me out and hands me over to my chauffeur, the lady who drives for the dates. I recognize her and we have an excited greeting. Then she has the audacity to comment that I've gained a few pounds since she last saw me. Like she has the nerve to comment on weight gain! But I don't hold that against her for long, she is also the treat lady. We go for a drive and my chauffeur looks at me sitting like the princess I am in the back seat and complements me on always being a great passenger.

We stop and walk through a park where she makes me stop and sit, and takes loads of pictures of me. I guess I am beautiful, like a movie star or runway model, so I pose anytime she asks me to. After I lead my chauffeur to all the greatest smells imaginable, we get back in the car to meet my other friends and admirers.
Everyone wants to greet me at Home Central and Hair Designs. They give me lots pets and I'm happy to let them. My role in life is to share my love and make everyone's day a little brighter. Then it's time to head back to the shelter, I'm sure my staff has been missing my smiley face and happy disposition.

But I'll be honest, as much as I love my staff, what I really am hoping for is a permanent home of my very own where I can completely relax and make some special someone happy for the rest of my life. So as I settle back in my shelter kennel I'll say my prayers and dream of my future family. I know it's there, I just have to be patient.

𝐍𝐨𝐰 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐚, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫/𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐮𝐫:

Dally has been at the shelter for a year now, having arrived as a young puppy. She is now a little over a year old.

She has been adopted but it wasn't a great fit so returned to the shelter to wait some more. She is still pretty cute but not as little and cute like a younger puppy so often gets overlooked. She also comes out of the kennel with enthusiasm but I've found that she settles very well after a walk and away from the kennel stress. She absolutely loves everyone she meets.

I know that her perfect family is out there and that she has so much to offer to someone willing to put the work into her training.
Meet Dally anytime Tuesday-Friday 10-5 or Saturday and Sunday 10-4 at Stray Haven Humane Society, Waverly NY.
