Why Hartford might be the one for you:
Meet Hartford, a very sweet 5-year-old female who is looking for a patient and gentle family! Hartford can be a bit shy around new people but her affectionate, cuddly personality comes out once she builds trust. She isn't a huge fan of new or busy environments, and is happy to play in the home/yard and stick to the same walking routine each day. Hartford is currently in a foster home where she quickly became besties with the resident dog, so she would love to be adopted by a family with another social dog to keep her company. In her foster home, Hartford is making great strides in her leash training and is learning to embrace the outside world. Hartford's foster mom says that she LOVES pets, cuddles in bed and on the sofa and wags with her whole body. Hartford is smart and responds well to positive reinforcement training. She has mastered the basic commands and is excited to learn new ones. If you're ready to offer Hartford the gentle companionship she deserves, she is sure to brighten your days! Please email us today to learn more about adopting Hartford.

At SDHS:
Hartford has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered and is now ready for her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
