My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hazel is a sweet and gentle soul. She knows all of her basic commands and is well-mannered in the house. One of her most adorable quirks is that she loves to carry a toy in her mouth while out on walks and likes to pick a different favorite toy each day. She enjoys rolling in the grass, throwing her toys into the air to chase them, running zoomies, and being petted and scratched by her favorite people.

Hazel is crate-trained and house-trained. She walks okay on leash but could a little more training on loose leash walking. She heels well when treats are involved.

Hazel has done well in meeting new dogs, though she does not currently live with one. Hazel sometimes wants to chase cats who run in front of her while on walks, but is pretty non-reactive to cats who are slowly introduced to her. Hazel travels quietly in the car and in general only rarely barks.

Hazel takes a few minutes to warm up to new people as she finds them a bit scary. With a proper slow introduction and a few minutes to get used to someone, Hazel is a sweetheart and generally gets along with anyone. If the introduction is rushed, Hazel may growl or bark out of fear. Hazel should go to a home that is dedicated to continue to build her confidence and introduce her slowly to new humans until she is feeling more secure.

Hazel is moderate energy and enjoys couch time as well as long walks. She has a clean bill of health but does have dry skin for which she is currently getting supplements to help. Hazel loves to play with squeaky stuffed toys, balls, or kongs. She also enjoys a nice gnaw on an antler or bone.

Hazel is spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. All Better World Rescue dogs qualify for complimentary private and/or group training to help ensure a successful adoption.
