My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tux, a spirited, compact dog brimming with energy and love, eagerly searching for his forever home! This friendly guy may be a little wary of strangers at first, but once he gets to know you, his tail wags non-stop, and his affectionate side shines through.

Tux is still learning his manners and will benefit from positive reinforcement training. He's a strong puller on the leash, so using a harness will make walks more enjoyable for both of you. Though a bit hesitant when it comes to putting on his collar, as soon as he realizes it's time for a walk, his excitement is contagious!

Tux has spent a lot of time either outdoors or in a kennel, and he's now ready to settle into a loving indoor environment. He's looking for active owners who can offer plenty of attention, structure, and a consistent routine. With the right guidance, Tux will undoubtedly blossom into a loyal and loving companion.

He will need slow, proper introductions to other dogs, but a cat-free home is best for Tux. Give him the chance to thrive, and he'll reward you with endless love and enthusiasm!

Do you think you could be Tux's person? Here are some ways to find out:

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
