Name:   Lady Athena       Best Guess for Breed:  Terrier, Hound mix

Best Guess for Age:  5 years in October 2024   Gender: Female

Approximate Weight:  40 lbs

Gets Along With: Other dogs! She lived with kids ages 10yo, 12yo, 14yo. We haven't seen her with cats but she can be tested.

Currently Living At: DC area home

Lady Athena is Looking For: Her “forever”  home!  This sweetie lost her family and her home due to divorce and  a forced move to no-pet rental housing.  She's eager to once again have her own humans for long sniffy walks in the neighborhood, making new pup and people pals - and exploring new dog parks and  the rest of the world!

As a wise, experienced and beautifully behaved dog, she  knows what's most important in life: Being safe and loved and under her own roof. That's right at the top of her wish list. In exchange she promises adoring gazes,  loyal companionship and lots of dog kisses  for all her days.

What My Foster Says About Me Lady Athena is a sweetheart! She has lived with kids (and misses them!)  and does well on leash. She is adjusting to city life and is learning confidence with lots of treats!! She hops into the car to go on trails  and explore the city, and is a great hiking and running companion!   In the home, she learns commands well - she sits and waits to be released from eating and settles well in her crate - she loves it and feels secure in there! On walks, Lady Athena heels and is good with strong commands and direction. She currently uses a gentle leader when walking. She also plays well with other dogs off leash.

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Go meet their pets

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
