My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Kim! Kim is a 4 year old, 70 pound Chocolate Lab. She is sweet, timid, intelligent, attentive and so loving.

Kim plays well with other dogs and is very friendly. She walks well on a leash and doesn't pull, however she is still unsure of all the sounds of the city (buses, loud cars, etc). She needs some reassurance and to build her confidence.

Kim loves to eat boiled eggs, chicken jerky, freeze dried chicken and liver treats.

Kim knows to go outside for potty, but she isn't fully potty trained yet-- her ideal family is one that can continue to work on her training! Once she gets her last potty break outside, she can hold it in throughout the night in her crate. Kim is crate trained and sleeps through the night in her crate, but during the day she loves to come out to play, explore, and be with her family.

Kim is very quiet and hardly barks. She is the sweetest lab that needs a quiet, patient, and loving home. She is an amazing dog that will melt your heart!!

Kim is being fostered in Staten Island, NY. Her adoption fee is $600.

Kim is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well.

All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.

For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.

We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
