Neo is a 2.5 yr old mixed breed originally from Puerto Rico. Adopted as a puppy two years ago, he has always been fearful/nervous of new people. He is approximately 45 lbs and is neutered and fully vetted. He has been boarding at our facility in Barre for the last couple of weeks so we could get to know him better. He has done great with every dog he has met, big and small, and he LOVES to play with them. He loves other dogs so much that we will require at least one other dog to be in his new home. The other dog will help him warm up to his people too. It took him about a week to start relaxing around us. Although he tolerated touch and handling of all kinds (we trimmed a mat out of his tail on his first day), he would freeze in fear if we approached him. Now he is much more relaxed coming out of his kennel and even chose to approach me in the play yard and lick my hand!! His ideal home would be a calm, adult-only home out in the country with a secure fenced yard (he does not attempt to dig under or jump over our 5 ft fence) and some dog playmates. He goes to daycare regularly and loves it there. He passed a cat test, didn’t appear to know what they were and is responsive to direction. Take one look into his big brown eyes and you will see he is worth a little understanding and patience. We will offer guidance to ensure a safe transition to his new home.
