My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a fun and energetic boy to add to your family? Well let me introduce you to Scooby! This boy wears his heart on his chest, literally (view third photo). This handsome boy loves to play fetch with his stuffed squeaky toys and would play all day long if you let him. He will be rolling in the grass tossing his toy in the air. He can't wait to find the perfect home where he will be taken on lots of adventures and given lots of toy to run and play with.

~ Scooby is looking for an active home that will be able to bring him on lots of adventures
~ Scooby would do best in a home with a single person, couple or family with older children as he doesn't understand just how big he is
~ He will need to be signed up for training prior to going into his fur-ever home as he does need work on his manners and self control skills

Regularly Exhibited Behaviours Noticed:
- Jumpy
- Mouthy
- Under-socialized
- High energy
- Medical manipulation sensitivities

Explanation of Behaviours:
- Scooby has shown to be very sensitive to medical manipulations and procedures while in our care. Scooby can become very uncomfortable when receiving medical treatment, being restrained and when being physically manipulated for medical care. Scooby's new family should be prepared to work with their trainer to help desensitize him to medical care and speak with their vet so they are prepared prior to having him brought in for vet appointments.
- Scooby is a very high energy dog that will need plenty of daily exercise, training, attention, stimulation and enrichment to set him up for success.
- He needs a lot of work on his overall manners and self-control including difficult behaviours such as jumping and mouthing.
- Scooby is under-socialized and will need proper positive socialization to the world around him at a pace he is comfortable with.

This dog would benefit from:
- Active home
- A family consisting of all adults or including older children
- Plenty of time and attention
- Lots of training and socializing

Training needs/behaviours that need to be worked with for this dog:
- Basic manners (jumping up, mouthing, self control)
- Basic training
- Socialization / Desensitization
- Medical manipulation/treatment sensitivity

**For more information on any behavior's stated above, please check out our behavior fact sheet: https://kwsphumane.ca/BehavioursandDefinitions

**Please remember that animals are coming back from foster care to the centres for their meet and greets. They will be experiencing a new environment and meeting new people, which means they may not exhibit the same behaviours they did in their foster videos or while in foster care.

Additional adoption info

Come into the Centre and if you see a pet you like, you are able to do a "Meet and Greet" with that pet. Spend some time in alone with the pet or take a dog out for a short walk. If you are still interested in adopting the pet you can meet with one of our Adoption Counsellors who will have you fill out and application and will ask you some questions about the environment in which you live. If you seem like a wonderful match and your envirnoment meets the needs of the pet then your application should be approved!
