My name is Hugo II!

Please meet Hugo!

Hugo is a fun loving and smart shepherd lab mix who is 4-5 months old, and is currently being fostered with 3 adult dogs and a 4 month old puppy.

Hugo found himself as a 2 month old stray on the rural streets of Cleveland, Mississippi. Due to the lack of traffic in this small country town, Hugo had to wait 2 full months before being spotted online by Mercer Animal Rescue, who quickly brought him into the safety of a loving foster home.

At first, Hugo was unsure of how to "be a dog". All the comforts of a home perplexed him a bit. He had spent most of his life in a shelter kennel after all, but being the smart and loving boy that he is, Hugo acclimated quickly! He even learned to sit in three minutes!

Hugo is crate trained and doing well with his potty training. He's great with dogs and children. Hugo loves to play tug-of-war with his foster brothers, and he's happy being right in the middle of all the family action. We can't wait to see how this boy's story ends!

Hugo is fostered in Memphis, TN and can be transported to the northeast once adopted. Hugo us available for adoption in VA, MD, PA, CT, NJ, NY, VT & RI.
