My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I am Atlas, though my foster dad likes to call me Skinny Boy.
I am not that skinny but I guess I am compared to my foster siblings. I live with my foster dad and siblings - 3 two-legged ones and 2 four-pawed ones (a German Shepherd and a Rottweiler). I love being petted by my four humans and I love to wrestle and play tug-of-war with my foster doggie siblings. I am slim but even stronger than I look. I am easy going for the most part and I eat anything that won't eat me first. I am house trained, crate trained and potty trained. I love being next to foster dad best. I just curl around near him and I go to sleep.

I would love to find a family that I can get lots of pets from and cuddle with. I hope that's you!

Go meet their pets

GHGSDR holds Meet and Greets @ several Petco stores in the Houston area each month, usually from 1pm to 4pm. Check our homepage for locations and dates.

On our homepage we list the names of the dogs that are expected to be at the event - check 1 or 2 days before the event.

We hope that you will come on out and meet some of our wonderful GSDs. Meet our volunteers and learn more about why GSDs are a wonderful breed!
See you there!

More about this rescue

GHGSDR volunteers are dedicated to saving as many German Shepherds in the Greater Houston Metro area as humanly possible - based on current resources of available foster homes, the rate at which we can find suitably matched adoptive homes, and of course, financial resources for veterinary care.

GHGSDR Shepherds mostly come from animal shelters where they are awaiting euthanasia. All of these Shepherd Dogs need loving, forever homes and families to call their own. We have several GSDs available for adoption and we regularly take in more Shepherds under our wings and into our Rescue Program, increasing the numbers of dogs available for adoption. Whenever we can, we also work with other dog rescue groups in Texas and nationwide to help ensure the safety and security of these wonderful animals.
