Meet Strider, a young, exuberant canine who's ready to bring joy to your life. He's not just a bundle of energy; he's a cuddly, gentle soul too. Strider weighs 16 pounds and loves to play, prancing and jumping around with a joyous yip and an ever-wagging tail. His curious nature makes him an eager explorer, always excited to discover new scents and sights. Strider is also a quick learner; he seems to be somewhat house trained and leash trained, making him a great companion for walks. Despite his energetic demeanor, Strider can be a bit of a softy, often whining for some extra cuddles or playtime. He loves lap time and being petted. His friendly and happy disposition is infectious, brightening up any room he prances into. We haven't seen him interact with dogs or children yet. Adopt Strider and let his sweet, playful spirit fill your home with happiness and love. (tw 9/18/2024)

Pet Adoption Fees
CAP adoption fees include a variety of services - age-appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm, and feline leukemia tests, spaying/neutering, deworming treatment, microchipping to name a few - the total value of which exceeds $450. These minimal adoption fees cover only part of each animal's stay at our shelter - please help us keep adoption fees low while maintaining the high quality of care for the animals in our charge by donating and/or volunteering.

Dogs
A second dog or puppy, adopted within 30 days of the first adoption receives a $20 discount.

Any dog/puppy adopted at the same time as a cat/kitten will be adoptable at a $20 discount.

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
