My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please an Adoption Request Form. This is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about The Rescue Crew adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our Adoption Process page on our official website

Bonita's journey is one of resilience and transformation. Pulled from the local pound just before being placed on the euthanasia list, this sweet girl has made an incredible glow-up! She was once severely emaciated, which is how she earned her original name, Bonita, for being "bone-y." But with love and care, she’s gone from 27 pounds to a now healthy 45 pounds, full of energy and joy. Her foster has lovingly taken to calling her Juniper!

She is the epitome of friendly! She adores both her human friends and her furry companions. This spirited girl is a real social butterfly, but her excitement can turn her into a little bunny when she’s thrilled—hopping around with glee! Because of her exuberant energy, she might not be the best fit for families with very small children.

She is impressively smart! She is house-trained, crate-trained, walks well on a leash, and she knows commands like sit, stay, down, and "go to bed." She loves to learn and would thrive with continued training and mental stimulation. Her foster currently has her enrolled into a basic obedience class.

Compatibility:

  • Dogs: She is dog-friendly and enjoys playing with her four-legged pals!

  • Cats: While she hasn’t had extensive interaction with cats, she did remain calm around them at a local adoption event. With slow introductions, she might do just fine with feline friends.

  • Kids: She sometimes forgets her size and manners (4 paws on the ground) when meeting new people. She probably won't be the best fur-sibling to smaller kids.

Ideal home:

She would thrive in a loving home where she can receive plenty of attention, playtime, and training. A medium-energy household that appreciates her joyful spirit would be perfect. At the end of a long day, she'll be eager to curl up next to you.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who has overcome challenges and is ready to share her love, Bonita (or Juniper!) is your girl!

All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption.

The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Application prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care. For the most complete information regarding this animal, and all of our adoptable pets, please ensure you are visiting our website directly at www.RescueCrew.org. You can also access the necessary online adoption application here as well. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown.

Additional adoption info

We want to be sure that the adoption process is as smooth and positive an experience as possible. Our animals are in foster homes and we do everything we can to learn as much about their likes and dislikes, temperament and activity level as we can while in our care. By doing so, it enables us to work more closely with a potential adopter to help ensure a "good fit." The adoption process might take a bit longer than adopting from a shelter, but our ultimate goal is finding a match that benefits not just the animal, but also the family interested in adopting.

We are looking to let our adopters chose the speed of the adoption process. To start the process, we require that an adoption application be completed. Once submitted, we will connect with you to discuss the type of animal you're looking for, your lifestyle and home environment, and what the best fit may be. At times, we may request to conduct a home visit, which can often be done in tandem with what we refer to a "meet and greet" where you have the opportunity to meet and interact with the animal(s) you're interested in adopting. Ad part of our process we conduct background check on all applicants, will check personal and vet references also. Our goal is always the proper placement for any adopted animal, which may mean that the animal you originally are interested in may turn out to not be the best fit, but we will work with you to find a better match. Adoption fees include spaying/neutering of all animals, age appropriate vaccinations ad microchipping and range anywhere from $80-$175 for cats and $200-$450 for dogs.

Prior to finalizing adoptions we require a signed Contract & Agreement which includes an understanding that if for any reason the animal does not work out that you will return them back to The Rescue Crew.

Go meet their pets

As all of our animals are in private foster homes, we do not have a facility where adoptable animals can be met. However, we do host adoption events occasional throughout the Twin Cities metro area, and those will be posted both on our website and Facebook pages.

More about this rescue

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Minnesota-based animal rescue organization which strives to prevent the unnecessary euthanasia of companion animals by finding them loving forever homes. The Rescue Crew was established specifically to fill a need in the local Twin Cities metro area to help shelter animals facing imminent risk of euthanasia without rescue support.

OUR MISSION: We are here to help save the lives of companion animals in need. Those who are homeless; the abused or abandoned; the neglected and unloved, and to show them human compassion and kindness, ultimately helping them become valued family members in a loving home.

OUR VISION: We envision the day where every adoptable animal has the opportunity of finding a responsible, loving home. A world where pets are no longer mistreated, abused or abandoned.
