My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What's her name? Why don't you Asker!

Recently surrendered with her two tiny kittens through no fault of their own, Asker is a shy and overwhelmed mama that would do well in a quiet, low-stress environment.

Poor Asker has had multiple litters and has been moved around from one home to another before ending up at the shelter. She is understandably uncomfortable and is just looking for someone to give her the second chance she deserves. With patience and time, this sweetheart will continue to reveal more of her trust and unique personality.

Asker is strictly an indoor cat, although she may eventually enjoy supervised time outside in an enclosed catio or other "cat-proofed" space. Due to her shyer nature, homes with young children would not be suitable matches. She is looking for a calm, patient home to help her learn how to trust again. She may enjoy the company of another calm, confident cat to lead the way in a new house.

Are you willing to show Asker what it's like to be loved unconditionally? Come meet her from Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm and the West Vancouver shelter or fill out an application online right now!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
