Candy Corn is a 3 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix who is as sweet as candy! Candy was rescued from the shelter with several of her spooky season pals. We don’t know her backstory but we know her unwritten chapters stretch for miles. Candy Corn walked right over to our shelter volunteer, placing a paw on her lap and flashing her little underbite smile. Folks, we fell instantly in love and knew she had to come with us. Candy Corn can’t wait to make Halloween (and every holiday to come) memories with her forever people so head down to Spirit Halloween (aka DPS Rescue) and bring her home!

Candy Corn is a snuggle bug girl ready to find her cuddle people! She is a total velcro dog and would LOVE to find a WFH person to spend her days with. She arrived in our rescue a bit shut down, but we knew once she had the time to blossom, she’d show us how amazing she is, and she did! Now, she’s always ready for cuddles, couch time, and countless plush toys! As she’s gotten more comfortable, she is less of a shadow to her foster mom, but she still adores being wherever her people are. Candy is a lower energy girl, so no marathons in her future, but she does love getting out and hitting the neighborhood streets. She’s also super smart and follows along with the tv, yipping at the dogs she sees on screen. She’s also quite the foodie and has a very curious palate! If you have a list of dog-friendly local dives to check out, she’d love to put her order in. Candy’s dream home is a mellow environment where she can learn to grow and thrive. As she figures out the whole “explore and play” thing, a loving home ready to build her up would be perfect for her. We know this little lady has so much potential and we can’t wait to see how she shines with you.

Candy Corn’s day starts with a big stretch as she wakes up around 8 AM. She goes right out for potty in the yard before she comes inside for her morning meal. Once she finishes eating, she plops down on the couch for a morning nap. Throughout the day, she alternates between napping around the house, sniffing around the yard, and spending time with her foster mom. She goes on a short walk in the late afternoon, soaking up the sunshine and smells the neighborhood has to offer. She comes home for dinner at 5 PM followed by a dog treat (or two… or three) and a bowl of water. In the evening, Candy hangs out on the couch and watches some TV with her foster mom. She is very attentive and loves the dog food commercials. After one last potty break, she settles in for the night around 9 PM in her foster mom’s bed.

Candy Corn is friendly with dogs who are lower energy like her. Super playful dogs are a bit overwhelming for her as of now but she would thrive as a companion to a resident calm pup. She is working on her separation anxiety with her current foster and her forever home should be ready to continue her confidence building. She walks well on a leash but could use some more exposure to the world. If you’re ready for a new faithful friend, pick up some Candy Corn today!

Candy Corn is only an option for homes who have previously owned a dog of their own. She’s an ideal option for a companion dog. Kids should be over the age of 13.

More about this rescue

We are passionate folks who love dogs and love people! We strive to make the most appropriate match between human and canine. Because our dogs live in foster homes we know about their temperament and personality and therefore can help families and individuals decide if the dog is a good match or not. We are excited to help people find the right pooch for them and look forward to meeting great folks and welcoming them into the DPS Family.
