Buck Buck is a 2 year old shepherd mix that joined the CARE shelter in September 2024. We have been fostering Buck Buck since the very beginning of this year and he is doing really well!
He is playful but has a naturally calmer demeanor and loves attention.
🦴Knows how to sit, shake, and lay down!
🐕LOVES our other shepherd dog, Lakota. He would do well having a buddy. He is naturally more fearful/insecure so my dog has helped him a lot in learning how to be a dog, build confidence, and have fun.
🐴🐈He likes our horses too but we haven’t ever set him loose around them. I think he has the potential to be fine with cats too over a very slow process. We have cats and when he sees them, he barks and cries at them. He had this reaction when he first saw our horses too and is now fine being nose to nose with them. I think with lots of time and slow progression/introductions to the cats around him. It would surprise me if he didn’t do well.
🧍♂️🧍♀️Loves attention and does great with my 3-year old son.
🪑 He loves to sit and get attention and will literally be a lap dog if you let him! He does not realize his size!
🐾 Potty-Training: Hasn’t had an accident since the very beginning of our time with him but we have a very structured schedule with him - lots of outside time, crate-trained, and supervised in the house.
Buck Buck would do well in an environment, where there are not many strangers coming in and out. If he doesn’t recognize you, or if someone that he doesn’t know comes in the house, he gets more fearful and barky. He just needs a patient and loving environment with consistency where he can continue to learn and know what its like to be a loved dog and recognize that he doesn’t need to be in a self protection mode and that many things are good!
